Dallas senior graduates, this year has been very unusual to the say the least for the Class of 2020 and one I’m sure as a high school or college senior you won’t soon forget. Experiencing a pandemic has left us in a complex situation that is confusing, so frustrating, and sad. As parents, we are just as disappointed that we cannot celebrate you in the manner we had hoped. I say “we” because I have a college senior and know exactly what you’re going through right now having had hopes of commemorating his graduation too. All the emotion felt during high school senior year for both my son and daughter remains with me like it was yesterday.
I’m truly broken-hearted for you. Your milestone year was abruptly cut short leaving you with the lack of closure that you deserved for all your effort throughout your school career. Go ahead and cry, go ahead get angry and feel bummed, we get it; but come back, take some deep breathes and let it go. It’s out of our control. I hope you still put on your prom suits and dresses; that you are finding ways to celebrate all the lasts you would have at home with your folks or online with your friends. Put on your cap and gowns, create your announcements, and continue to make BIG plans for your futures because you deserve to celebrate your senior year.
Every parent, family member, teacher, administrator, and even photographer I know is celebrating senior graduates everywhere. Wherever you hail from, whatever your school colors, big virtual air hugs to you and high fives. We are proud of you!! ~Angela
