For my final review of the Olympus E-M1 micro four thirds, mirrorless camera I wanted to show you some portraits.

In my last post, I told you about my favorite feature of the Olympus E-M1 camera which was the WIFI connection and the ability to upload to social media via smartphone (provided you have internet/cell service).

I told you about how wonderful the Olympus E-M1 handles low light situations; how crisp and clear the images are straight out the camera; the wonderful white balance; dreamy bokeh; and the fun collages you create as you take your photos.

While I had the Olympus E-M1 for the couple of weeks it was available to me, I decided to bring it along to my portrait sessions just for fun. I had the 75mm because it’s a great portrait lens.

After a family holiday session, I stayed to capture some candid family moments. The portrait to the left is one of my favorites.

Actually, it was one of theirs too. They liked it so much, they ordered a curved metal collage with several of the portraits taken with the Olympus E-M1.

For another session, I captured a few sweet moments of the most adorable uncle and his nephew, and the probably one of the most beautiful grandmother’s I’ve ever known!

Except for some minor adjustments to the RAW files, you can see that I did not really do anything to these other than cropping. I love the details and the crispness of these images from the Olympus E-M1, yet, using the 75mm f 1.8, these portraits are also soft and lovely. I know grandmother loves them! I cannot call my gorgeous friend a grandma without chuckling, look at her!!!

Over all, I find that the Olympus E-M1 micro four-thirds mirrorless camera is a fantastic camera especially when equipped with the fabulous lens choices available to photography enthusiasts. As someone who enjoys traveling with her family and never leaving without great gear to capture our memories (which I must have full manual control over all the settings), I would love to own the Olympus E-M1, as it is so portable even with the camera body, four lenses, a flash, and the charger.

To make your choice even harder, Olympus has also recently introduced the new E-M10. It has almost all the same features of the E-M1 at half the cost.

Thanks for coming along for the ride! Get Olympus. It’s fun!
