Texas Professional Photographers Association Member, Angela Navarette
I am a Texas Professional Photographers Association (TPPA) member. I have been for many years! I am also a member of my local, state, and national associations. For me, being a part of these associations is a great source of education and camaraderie. The best thing you can do when you are trying to grow (in any industry) is to surround yourself with those who know more than you do can give you the wisdom of their experience. I have met so many wonderful people and made lasting friendships with the best in the business! Below you can see me with one of my buddies, Tom Sergent from Eddy, Texas whom I met in my very first professional education class. We became fast friends in 2012 and here we are in the Texas Professional Photographer magazine today.

Why am I mentioning my association with TPPA? Because this year has been a big one for me. My work is in the October issue of Texas Professional Photographer. As an artist, getting published is thrilling, especially in a magazine that goes out to professionals state-wide. Remember, surround yourself with good people? To me this is the stuff that happens to the ones who know more than me, who are better than me, and yet, here I am, making my way daily and learning daily that anything is possible when you set your mind to it.
Sometimes I like to play around with my photographs for the sake of art. The artwork below, “On the Fence,” won Best Wildlife Illustrative and Best Illustrative at state last year. It’s a whimsical image about an indecisive heron.

Earlier this summer, Texas Professional Photographer published artwork of my daughter honoring her Native American roots. It is one of my favorite pieces to date, not just because my daughter is in it, but because it captures so much history from both sides of her family.
If that wasn’t enough, Plano Profile asked to use a photograph of a fireworks display they saw on my Instagram feed. How cool is that?
I’m grateful for the relationships made from all these associations and appreciative for all the opportunities to move forward!
